Here at Platinum Audio/Visual we recently installed a sound system on the softball field at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Kentucky.
One of the issues the previous system had was the user had to use a small mixing board to control the volume of the microphone and music. As you can see in the picture below there is a lot of knobs and buttons and can be confusing for an inexperienced person with using audio equipment. This can cause many problems due to the user turning or pressing the wrong button, drastically changing the sound.
The school was ready to have a professional sound system, due to previously using a portable speaker system for many years.
Madison Central Sound System InstallationSo what we did with the new sound system was installed the amplifier and mixer needed to power and control the system inside of a secured Tripplite case. The Tripplite case is designed to allow air flow for the amplifier so it will not overheat. This also helps eliminate a few of the user errors caused with the old sound system.
The old system sat on the scores table taking up a lot of space. We mounted the secured case to the left, up off of the scores table. This gives the person(s) ruining the score and microphone plenty of space.
For the speakers we installed the Electro-Voice EVID 6.2 on each side of the scores box. The EV EVID speakers are a great choice giving a crisp clear sound and not lacking any of the bass sounds either! The EV EVID speakers also have a modern appeal as well.
One of our favorite features with the system is the built in ducking system with the amplifier. When the Shure 522 desk top microphone with a press to talk button is pressed, the music playing will automatically fade out letting the announcer be heard loud and clear. Once the announcer releases the Shure 522 press to talk button the music automatically fades back in. . This helps the announcer by eliminating the need for them to fade out the music.
